Hey guys!
Before I get super deep into ranting and raving about books, I thought I would give you all a better chance to get to know me as a person and as a book lover.
Now, this is a tag that's done on Youtube for new Booktubers to help their viewers get to know them better. Obviously, I'm not on Youtube, I'm creating a blog, so I adjust the questions to that they make more sense to what I'm doing.
Let's go:
1) Why did you decide to start this blog?
Of course, the obvious answer is that I love books. But it's actually a lot more than that.
I have created blogs at least five times before. It was always fun to create my site and a catchy name. After I started writing several posts, I tended to hit the same wall: I never picked topics that I was passionate about. Now, I did pick topics I had an interest in, but I always ended up realizing I didn't actually have that much to say on the topic. So I would end up deleting them and coming to the same conclusion that I wasn't meant to write a blog.
It never occurred to me until I started getting involved in Booktube that I could write about books. I love watching reviews, readathons, book tours, and just about everything else it has to offer. But my favorite part is that I always got so much of the each person's unique personality with each video. It wasn't just like scrolling through reviews on Goodreads. It was watching a person I came to know and like.
The only thing is that I have no desire to post videos of myself. However, I am good with writing, so the idea eventually came to me.
Aside from that, I've always been told that I have a unique perspective of things, especially books. I'm also always looking for someone who wants to hear what I have to say about them. I love the idea of sharing my opinions and even recommendations to other people who are just as crazy about reading as I am.
Thus, Let's Book Up Later was born.
2) What are some fun and unique things you can bring to the general category of book blogs?
Like I briefly touched on, I have a different view on books that a lot of people I talk to. I think I can definitely add some new perspectives on novels that a lot of people either don't think about or just don't want to talk about.
I also am hoping to expose readers to books they haven't read before. It would be awesome to help someone find their new favorite book!
Generally, I think this is going to be a more upbeat book blog. I have a lot of personality that can't be contained by a digital screen! No, but really, I am really passionate when it comes to books. I want to create a fun place with of course the standard R's (reviews, recommendations, and rants) as well as doing readathons, maybe some book theories I have, and incorporating some other interesting things that aren't commonly done.
3) What are you most excited for about this new channel?
Well, hopefully I'll come across some really cool people like me who also care about reading and writing. I look forward to hearing feedback on my posts and hearing the ideas of others. I really want this to be place of openness and fun. I'd love to have some sort of community of fellow book nerds :)
4) Why do you love reading?
We could be here awhile...
The simplest way I can explain this is that I have two different main perspectives: reader and writer.
As a reader, I enjoy reading for the escape. It gives you the opportunity to ride off to Hogwarts, hunt a massive whale, fight in a war, fall in love, and just about anything else. You have the ability to get away from the things that are bothering you and go to a world where your problems don't exist for awhile. It also can make you feel not so alone when you're sad, or add to your mood when you're happy. Books are just so amazing.
When I view books as a fellow writer, I am able to pay more attention to the themes behind stories. I can usually relate to the feelings that the author pours into their novels and let it touch my heart. In a way, I get to see what's going on in someone else's mind. That's so awesome if you think about it. Sometimes their words inspire me to write or even just to live. Their thoughts are the same ones as mine. My favorite is when a book challenges me in regards to my morals or just general way of thinking.
There's just such beauty in reading.
5) What book or series got you into reading?
Oh goodness. Well, I remember my mom reading the American Girl Series to me when I was young. I absolutely adored them. However, I remember reading Harry Potter when I was eight and going through some hard times. That's really when I started to understand how powerful reading and writing is.
6) What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?
I think it's all generally going to be a little hard. I've never consistently ran a blog before so I'll have to learn how to create a schedule so I can successfully keep coming up with posts. I also think it will challenge my creativity a little, but in the best way.
7) When did you start reading?
Pretty much since birth, no exaggeration. My mom has videos of me as a toddler who couldn't even read yet flipping through books, carefully so I didn't read the pages. We would go to the library and pick books out. It's always been a part of me.
8) Where do you read?
Honestly, pretty much everywhere. I like reading outside when the weather is nice, I like reading in libraries, I read in doctor's offices, I read in my room often, and I even read in my car. During my fifteen minute break at work, I read ( I work at a library so it's definitely encouraged). When I work desk and it's not busy, I actually get to read while working. I literally have the dream life on those days.
9) What kind of books do you like to read?
It mainly depends on my mood because I pretty much like every genre of books. Generally when I'm stressed, I tend to read more contemporary books to escape from things for awhile. I get into my true crime or horror moods where I'm really into reading those. I like reading nonfiction about World War ll and stuff like that. I also like reading autobiographies. Then there will be my deep fiction/classic reading mood. I could go on. There really isn't a genre I don't like except for overly sappy romance novels.
Hopefully you found this interesting or helpful. This is just some generally information about me when it comes to books. Of course I will be reading myself generally through my blog posts and I might do some other tags or generally all-about-me posts if people want to know more.
Thank you so much reading this and I hope you stick around to see more of my posts. If you want, you can subscribe to my blog be notified whenever I post something new. Feel free to leave any questions, comments, or concerns.
Some R's will be coming your way!
Have a lovely rest of your day! Stay reading!!
