Hey booknerds!
Hey bookworms!
Honestly, I've been super busy with school and just life in general, plus there's a ton of blog posts I want to get out relatively soon. Unfortunately, I'm not quite ready to release all of that yet. However, expect them to be coming soon!
Anyways, because I've been so busy, I decide to do a tag. They're quick and a lot of fun.
So today I'm doing the Guilty Reader Tag. Today I'm going to be talking about all of my secret reading confessions ;)
1) Have you ever regifted a book that you've been given?
Well, I've never technically given a book I've gotten to someone else as a gift. However, if I get a second copy of a book or I just don't enjoy it, I donate it to the library. Some of the books I've given have become actual library books. It makes me so happy to see them on the shelf.
So I guess you as the reader can decide. Does that make me a guilty reader?
2) Have you ever said you've read a book when you haven't?
Unfortunately, I'm definitely guilty. I used to not feel the need to lie about what I have or haven't read. However, the world is full of literary snobs who make you feel bad if you haven't read one of the classics or a really popular book.
So I have said that I've read some stories that I haven't. However, for the most part, I'm pretty honest about the books I've read. On this blog, I totally promise to be honest about the books I've read. If what I have or haven't read before is really that big of a deal to anyone reading, then that's too bad, but I'm just going to be honest.
Some books I've claimed to have read have been some Jane Austen novels and some popular YA books.
3) Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it?
In the sixth grade, we were reading a book that I can't remember the name of. My class was all given personal copies. By some horrible force of nature, I ended up losing the book. I was so devastated too. Since birth, I've taken perfect care of books. Yet, somehow I lost it and I never found it.
Luckily since then I haven't lost or not return someone else's book. I have, however, had some people not return my books or even destroy them, which completely devastated me.
Books are very precious. I think it's horrible to destroy one that belongs to someone else. It's the reader's choice to do whatever they want with their book, but as a borrow, try to respect that as well.
Although I know as much as anybody that accidents happen. And I really wonder whatever happened to that book I lost so many years ago.
4) Have you ever read a series out of order?
Ah, that's such a major book sin!
But yes, I have. I did read the Pretty Little Liars series out of order. However, it was by accident. Needless to say, I was very confused.
There may have been some series where I didn't read the prequel first, but waited until after I finished the series. No specific book series comes to mind.
Sorry, that was a bit of a lame answer.
5) Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?
I have! And I feel so awful about it.
A good friend of mine was reading the Harry Potter series for the first. I accidentally thought she was a book ahead of the one she was actually on. Without even thinking about it, the spoiler just slipped out of my mouth.
I will never forget the horrified look on her face and I felt so horrible about it. However, she did forgive me. Although to make matters worse, someone spoiled an even worse thing in that series for her a couple weeks later. Needless to say, that wasn't necessarily the most pleasant reading experience she ever had. Still, she enjoyed the series.
Other than that, I'm pretty cautious about not spoiling books for people unless they don't care about me ruining it for them. I've had a few too many stories accidentally spoiled for me.
6) Have you ever dog eared a book?
Yes, I have.
I have two types of books. Ones I keep in pristine condition and ones that I annotate. The ones that I annotate I dog ear or if that book is already pretty old/in not great condition.
I don't believe dog earing books is the worst thing someone can do to a book. I know, I'm sorry!
7) Have you ever told someone you don't own a book when you do?
No, I don't think so. Honestly, I'm not ashamed of the books I own. I proudly display them all on my book shelf for anyone to see.
I will admit that I am a little embarrassed to admit owning Twilight or other books like that, but I still don't denying owning them. If people really want to judge me for owning certain books, that's their problem.
8) Have you told someone you haven't read a book when you have?
Honestly, I don't think I have, but I guess it's possible. Maybe one of the more cliche or cheesy books in the past that no one likes to admit that they have.
Whoopsie.
9) Have you ever skipped a chapter or section of a book?
I've skimmed through chapters in books, but I've never fully skipped parts. If I'm not interested in reading then I just don't finish the book. I don't think it's worth reading a book just to skip parts of it. It kind of ruins the vibe to skip full parts of the book.
I can list some of the books I've DNFed though in another post.
So that's all I have for this tag. I know this was short and not the most exciting, but I promise better things are coming soon that I'm really looking forward to posting.
10) Have you ever bad mouthed a book you've actually liked?
I've disliked books at first and then later ended up liking it like the Divergent series or I've ended up disliking books that I now like. I also will point out flaws in books I like if that counts as bad mouthing.
I think we all criticize things that we like because our moods or interests change. Or sometimes we even do it so seem cool. I guess it just happens to all of us, but I don't think that really makes someone a guilty reader.
So that's all I have for this tag. I know this was short and not the most exciting, but I promise better things are coming soon that I'm really looking forward to posting. Get ready for some pretty awesome rants and reviews in the near future!
